Fact #109

Idina Menzel originally auditioned for a role in Tangled. Despite not getting it, she made an impact on producers, who cast her in Frozen instead.

Fact #98

The amount of work and that goes in to computer animation of some of the characters is intense. Sulley from Monsters Inc has more than 2.3 million individual hairs, meaning a single frame took an average of 12 hours to produce.

Similarly, Rapunzel’s hair in Tangled had over 100,000 individual hairs, made even more difficult by its length. Long hair is often considered difficult and not worth the effort in CG, which is why many characters wear their hair in a bob, or braids. A single scene in Tangled could take weeks for the computer to even simulate.img-thing.jpg

Fact #93

Rapunzel and Flynn from Tangled can be seen arriving for the coronation at the beginning of Frozen. Bonus fact, Frozen was also the first animated Disney film directed by a woman.

Fact #29

Tangled was initially going to be called Rapunzel. The name was changed because of The Princess and the Frog’s lower than expected box office earnings. It was thought that the takings were low because the film mainly appealed to a female audience, so they marketed Tangled to appeal to both little boys and little girls.

It was also the first film of the ‘Princess’ Franchise to receive a PG rating.
