Following the pattern of what has inadvertently turned into Video week, here we have Little Red Riding Hood, cartooned by Walt Disney in 1922.
At the time, Disney was working for Film Ad, doing crude animation, but was frustrated by limitations put on him. So, at night, he worked on his own cartoons, which he sold to the Newman Theatre company, thus creating the Newman’s Laugh-O-Grams.
Little Red Riding Hood is one of the first Walt Disney cartoons created, and is considered Disney’s first attempt at animated story telling.
Other titles in the Laugh-O-Gram series include The Four Musicians of Bremen, Goldie Locks and the Three Bears, Jack the Giant Killer, Jack and the Beanstalk, Puss in Boots, Tommy Tucker’s Tooth and Cinderella, all of which are well worth a look, if you can track them down.
